The Seahawks just released a press statement saying that guard Mike Wahle and DE Patrick Kerney each had successful shoulder surgeries Tuesday.
Kerney underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder and is expected to be sidelined until training camp in 2009.
Wahle underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder and recovery time is expected to last eight to 12 weeks.
Both surgeries were performed by team doctors Ed Khalfayan and Mike McAdam at the Seattle Surgery Center.
Update from Danny O’Neil: The length of the recovery for Kerney indicates that he may have had the labrum repaired again. It’s definitely a more extensive recovery than the procedure he underwent earlier in the season and hoped to be able to come back this year.
Holmgren said this second surgery was to repair the labrum, which will entail an extensive recovery and Kerney could miss training camp as he finishes the rehabilitation.
Wahle’s recovery time will not be as extensive.
Also, the Seahawks signed C Donovan Raiola to their practice squad after OL Pat Murray was signed to the Denver Broncos’ 53-man active roster Tuesday. Raiola was originally signed by the St. Louis Rams in 2006 as an undrafted free agent.
Update from O’Neil: Donovan is the younger brother of Dominic Raiola, the Lions starting center.
