The Seattle Seahawks introduced Jim Mora as their new head coach in a Tuesday press conference, where he discussed his plans for the team’s future.

During his 61-minute question-and-answer session, Mora talked about his vision of the Seahawks’ offense under new coordinator Greg Knapp. It includes a greater emphasis on the run, at least in comparison to the 60-40 pass-to-run ratio used under former coach Mike Holmgren.

Knapp’s teams have always found success on the ground. In fact, his offenses have ranked in the top 10 in rushing in each of his eight seasons as a coordinator at the NFL level. That’s good news for the fantasy value of Julius Jones, at least on the surface. With Maurice Morris slated to be a free agent and not expected to return to the team, Jones becomes the favorite to start.

However, Jones has never proven to be consistent as a featured back. He lost a prominent role in Dallas to Marion Barber, and his first season in Seattle wasn’t impressive in the least. Furthermore, the team is almost certain to add another back to compete with Jones and fellow veteran T.J. Duckett.

Jones is the best fantasy option under Mora and Knapp for now, but that could change as the offseason progresses. Even in a best-case scenario, I don’t see Jones as much more than flex starters in fantasy leagues.

Of course, Mora and Knapp will also utilize the skills and talents of Matt Hasselbeck, who missed much of this season with various injuries. He won’t be seen as a true No. 1 fantasy quarterback in most 2009 drafts, but the veteran could turn out to be an absolute steal in the middle to late rounds.
