Mobile, AL. (Jan. 19)—Under Armour Senior Bowl Week is off and running after an action packed day for the 104 top senior NFL draft prospects calling Mobile home this week. The players began the day with the National Scouting Weigh-In at the Mobile Convention Center. After that it was off to the fields for their first practices of the week. The day wrapped up with Media Night at the USS Alabama Battleship Park where reporters were granted all-access to the 2009 Senior Bowlers.
Players of all shapes and sizes tipped the scales this morning in the main ballroom of the Mobile Convention Center. The tallest player participating this year is Oklahoma’s Phil Loadholt, who was measured at 6’8”. LSU’s Herman Johnson is slightly shorter at 6’7”, but holds the distinction of being the heaviest guy in Mobile this week, weighing in at 382 pounds.
The first day of practice saw beautiful weather at both Fairhope’s Municipal Stadium, where the South worked out and Ladd-Peebles Stadium, where the North held their practice. On Tuesday, all practices will move to Ladd-Peebles Stadium with the North working out in the morning from 9:30am to 11:00 am and the South going in the afternoon from 1:45pm to 3:15pm.
The 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl will kickoff this Saturday, January 24th at 6:00 pm (CT) in Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game will be televised by the NFL Network.
