PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) – Washington State quarterback Marshall Lobbestael has been suspended from team activities after a weekend arrest in Pullman.
Pullman police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said Tuesday that officers found the 19-year-old passed out, apparently from alcohol, in the passenger seat of a pickup truck at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the police department parking lot.
Washington State sports information director Bill Stevens said the suspension is standard while coach Paul Wulff and his staff review the case. The suspension includes activities such as weight lifting with the team. Spring practice is scheduled to start March 26.
Lobbestael threw four touchdown passes in five games as a freshman. His season was cut short by a knee injury Sept. 27 against Oregon State.
Tennant said Lobbestael was arrested for investigation of exhibiting effects of alcohol in public, a misdemeanor, and will have to appear in Whitman County District Court.
Tennant said the parked pickup drew the attention of police because the driver was pacing back and forth in front of the station’s doors. The driver was not arrested.
