Could Mike Teel be the next Matt Hasselbeck?

Published on July 7, 2009 by     Seahawk Fanatic

mike-teelCould Mike Teel possibly be the next Matt Hasselbeck in terms of style and ability.

Only time will tell, but all signs point to the same road Hasselbeck took to get to this level in the NFL and what better person to learn from then the man Matt Hasselbeck.

“I always heard about how good Matt was,” Teel said. “To actually watch him work and the way he goes about it, the mental approach he takes towards it is incredible. For me, to come in and watch how he does it, you can’t even put into words how beneficial that is.”

“Believe me,” Teel said, “there were times when I went in and I sat with my head coach and said, ‘Coach, I don’t know how I’m going to do this. This is hard. I’m getting letters from fans saying how I’m ruining the program.’

Mike Teel has been down a tough road in his last season with the Scarlet Knights, but he endured and showed his true leadership, all the while accepting the blame as the QB of his team and not blaming others.

This is what intrigued Tim Ruskell and the Seahawk’s Staff with this young man, then Rutgers ripped off seven consecutive victories, including a bowl win over the North Carolina State, scoring at least 30 points in five of those games.

The Seattle Seahawk’s obviously did the homework necessary to take a long look at Teel and decide he could possibly be the next replacement for an aging Hasselbeck, obviously only time will tell when and if he can get his chance to shine.

I personally look forward to seeing him in action in a game to see how well he can play at this level!

Teel is a steal where the 'Hawks got him. He is one tough son-of-a-bitch. He has a great arm and got better every year. he has a lot of upside and if he continues to develop, he'll be a starter in 2 years.
