090815babsmora450I was very impressed with Nick Reed Playing at left defensive end for the Seahawks, he continuously made play after play, he was in on every tackle in or around the line and showed the Seahawks that he is no 7th round fluke, his chances just improved to make the roster for the Seahawks that’s for sure.

Also looking real good was another 7th round choice, Mike Teel. He also looked very poised in his first start in the NFL, throwing one touchdown and one interception, yet looked like a seasoned pro standing in the pocket.
Teel also didn’t hurt his chances at being the Seahawks 3rd stringer behind Hasselbeck and Seneca Wallace.

Overall the Seattle Seahawks looked very good in their preseason opener, we got a lot of looks at the new defensive schemes the Seahawks will be running under new coaching and the Offensive schemes are also looking to play to the strengths of the Offense line also under new coaching.

My assesment is this summed up in one sentence, Watch out Arizona, the Seahawks are looking to regain the NFC West Crown!!!

No one helped himself more than Nick Reed, a seventh-round draft choice. The rookie defensive end from Oregon had a sack and an interception in his NFL debut.

“It was good to see him show up,” Mora said. “I had a feeling that he would show up and make some plays.”

But there were others.

Rookie quarterback Mike Teel played extensively in the second half, and the sixth-round draft choice completed 7 of 15 passes for 75 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown to No. 18 – Mike Hass, the former Oregon State wide receiver who also had two special teams tackles.

Rookie offensive lineman Max Unger, a second-round draft choice from Oregon, played the entire game – the first half at right guard, the second half at center. Running back Devin Moore, a rookie free agent from Wyoming, ran for a game-high 32 yards. Defensive linemen Baraka Atkins and Michael Bennett each had a sack.

But it was Teel’s TD pass late in the third quarter that put the Seahawks ahead to stay.

“I was really happy for Mike, really happy,” Mora said. “He just showed a maturity about him that we’ve been looking for.”

After seeing limited reps in training-camp practices, Teel was really happy to be able to get into the flow of the game.

I was very impressed with the Hawks performance. I see great things happening with Mora at the helm and Teel looked very impressive, lets just see how he does in the rest of the pre-season.

I was also very impressed with Mike Teel’s poise in the pocket, he definitely has his head in the right place when at the helm, i cannot say enough good things about his performance except let’s continue to evaluate him throughout the preseason!

I am a Scarlet Knight fanatic and Teel is a big game player! His receivers dropped a ton of passes over the year most notably one that would have led to us winning the Big East title in 2006 against WV. You guys got a good one!
