Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck went down, and now he’s likely out.
Hasselbeck was injured at the end of the second quarter during a short run when he was hit in the back by 49ers LB Patrick Willis as he dove toward the goal line. Hasselbeck was able to get to his feet after taking the shot in his lower back, but later collapsed by the sideline and was in obvious pain as he laid on his back. He was able to get to his feet after a short time, and immediately left the sidelines, walking with team personnel to the locker room.
The FOX game broadcast is reporting Hasselbeck suffered a rib injury and will not return.
Hasselbeck, 33, missed nine games last season with a back injury, an injury which did not require offseason surgery. He is 10-of-18 passing for 97 yards in the half, and was replaced by backup Seneca Wallace for the final plays before halftime.
We’ll pass along the latest on Hasselbeck as soon as we get it.
