The Hapless Seattle Seahawks Lose Once Again 35-9!

Published on November 22, 2009 by     Seahawk Fanatic

Hasselbeck spent most of the day on his backside! The Seattle Seahawks’ were held to just 61 total yards and two first downs in the first half while Minnesota racked up over 250 yards of offense and scored three touchdowns, pretty much sealing their win before the teams headed into the locker room for halftime.

It wasn’t all bad for the Seattle Seahawks as their defense managed to hold Minnesota to two three-and-outs on their first two drives, but that’s when QB Brett Favre caught fire hitting three different receivers for three touchdowns before the end of the first half.

His first throw went to rookie WR Percy Harvin who hauled in a 23-yard touchdown, while Favre’s second touchdown pass went to emerging TE Visanthe Shiancoe from eight yards out.

The Vikings got the ball right back at the Seattle 34 when Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu fumbled while fighting for extra yardage on the ensuing kickoff and Favre hit WR Bernard Berrian from three yards out ending the half with Minnesota up 21-0.

Favre and the Vikings scored again with 4:16 left in the third quarter as the wily veteran signal-caller hit WR Sidney Rice for a seven-yard touchdown pass.

Rice caught another touchdown pass, this a 34-yarder from backup QB Tavaris Jackson to complete a 10-play, 80-yard drive early in the fourth quarter.

Seattle did manage to tack on a one-yard touchdown plunge by RB Justin Forsett midway through the final stanza to finish the scoring.

From a statistical standpoint, Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck had a good day, hitting on 19 of 25 passes for 231 yards, but he did have an interception late in the game as Seattle was driving for another score.

WR Nate Burleson had a good day against his former team, hauling in six grabs for 100 yards while Forsett manged to haul in eight receptions, to lead both teams, for 80 yards.

LB David Hawthorne continued racking up huge tackle numbers, posting 15 tackles (11 solo) while both Deon Grant and Jordan Babineaux had 10 each.

Defensively, the Vikings held the Seahawks to just 235 yards of total offense, including four yards rushing. They were led in tackles by DE Ray Edwards who posted six stops while LB E.J. Henderson, CB Karl Paymah and LB Chad Greenway each had four and CB Asher Allen had the interception of Hasselbeck.

Favre ended the day with a 141.8 QB rating, hitting on 22 of 25 attempts for 213 yards and the four touchdown passes while RB Adrian Peterson had a workmanlike 82 yards on 24 carries and Rice managed to lead the way with six receptions for 89 yards and the two touchdowns.

Seattle falls to 3-7 and will travel to St. Louis next week to take on the 1-8 Rams in the Gateway City.
