Breaking News: Charlie Whitehurst The Newest Seattle Seahawks Qaurterback

Published on March 17, 2010 by

Seahawks Charlie WhitehurstThis one still has me miffed, he never threw a single pass in the NFL yet the Seahawks sign him to a 2 year deal worth 10 million?

Wow i guess someone in the Hawks front office is smoking crack! In my opinion not even close to a good signing for the Hawks, almost as bad as trading Darryl tapp to the Eagles.

Derek Anderson was and still is the 110% better back up QB than Whitehurst will ever be, facts are facts and i can’t see paying 5 Million per year to a QB who is absolutely unproven in the NFL!!

Quarterback Charlie Whitehurst signed a two-year, $10 million offer sheet with the Seattle Seahawks and likely will join the team, pending his trade from the San Diego Chargers, a league source said Wednesday.

Whitehurst, a restricted free agent, was coveted by the Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals. However, the Cardinals agreed to terms with former Cleveland Browns starter Derek Anderson on Wednesday.

The trade between the Chargers and Seahawks is virtually agreed upon but not completely finalized with the league office. The teams will trade draft picks, including a 2011 third-round selection from Seattle, according to a league source.

Final authorization of the deal should come by Thursday, but there is scant chance that Whitehurst will not become a Seahawk.

Whitehurst was extended a third-round tender by the Chargers, and that would be their compensation if they choose not to match the Seahawks’ offer sheet. The Seahawks don’t have a third-round pick in this April’s draft, however, and thus will deal their third-rounder from the 2011 draft.

Whisenhunt, a four-year pro, has appeared in just two NFL regular-season games and hasn’t thrown a pass. He likely would be Matt Hasselbeck’s backup after the Seahawks traded former No. 2 quarterback Seneca Wallace to the Browns last week.

  1. John says:

Well you seem to keep saying he has not thrown a pass in an NFL regular season game, but neither has any of the young QB's in the draft and Whitehurst is better than anyone in the draft and he has thrown a pass in the preseason so you are wrong.

  2. Well John if you consider the preseason anything close to a season game, you must be at least?
12 years old, Charlie Whitehurst appears to be in all books a regular Joe of a QB.
Look at the guys Collegiate stats, not great at all!!
