Rutgers offensive lineman Anthony Davis did not work out at the school’s pro day Wednesday.
He had dinner with an NFL team Tuesday night, and his agent called later that evening to say that Davis was sick and would not be able to work out the next day. Davis did show up at the school facility Wednesday morning but was sent home when he told organizers that he would not be working out.
Davis’ absence upset a number scouts, as they had come specifically to evaluate him.
There were still 19 other players, who ran indoors on FieldTurf, for scouts to evaluate. Representatives from 26 teams were in attendance, including Ravens secondary coach Chuck Pagano, two offensive line coaches from the Lions and New England Patriots assistant head coach/offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia.
Devin McCourty (5-10 3/4, 193) only ran position drills.
Defensive end George Johnson (6-4 3/8, 268) ran a 4.79 and 4.81 in the 40, had a 31-inch vertical, 9-5 broad jump, 4.57 short shuttle, 6.95 three-cone drill and completed 29 bench press reps. Johnson did not participate in the NFL Scouting Combine, but put together an outstanding pro day workout.
Offensive lineman Kevin Haslam (6-5, 304) ran 5.65 in the 40. He didn’t complete a second run. He had a 28.5-inch vertical leap, 8-4 broad jump, 4.78 short shuttle,
7.75 three-cone drill and had 24 bench press reps.
Linebacker Ryan D’Imperio (6-1 3/8, 241) ran 4.68 and 4.69 in the 40, had a 33.5-inch vertical leap, 9-7 broad jump, 4.39 short shuttle, 6.84 three-cone drill and 21 bench press reps.
