QB Mike Reilly – Here One Minute Gone The Next

Mike Reilly’s dream of playing for the Seattle Seahawks lasted roughly two weeks and three OTA practices, as the former Central Washington University quarterback was released today when the club signed wide receiver Marcus Maxwell.

According to information provided by the team, Maxwell was drafted in the seventh-round (223rd overall) by San Francisco in the 2005 NFL Draft and played in four games for the Niners that season.

Maxwell spent the spring of 2006 in NFL Europa and the NFL season on the practice squad, but was released and signed with Cincinnati, playing in five games with one catch for five yards in 2007. Maxwell ended the 2008 and 2009 seasons on injured reserve with Baltimore and Tampa Bay, respectively.

The Seahawks now have 15 receivers on the roster.

We only got a short look at Reilly during OTAs on Monday, so I’m interested to understand why the team released him just after two weeks on the squad.
