Seattle Seahawks Chris Spencer has signed his one-year tender

Seattle Seahawks restricted free agent offensive lineman Chris Spencer has signed his one-year tender, a league source has confirmed.

Defensive end Brandon Miller, still recovering from wrist surgery last off-season, was waived to fit Spencer on the team’s 80-man off-season roster.

Spencer (6-3, 312) was the Seahawks’ first-round pick (25th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft, and the former Ole Miss standout has started 54 of his 64 games in the NFL. Not eligible for unrestricted free agency, the Seahawks tendered Spencer at the “Original Round” level, which will compensate Spencer at 110% of his 2009 base salary, or $2.42 million dollars in bases salary in 2010.

Moved from center to right guard for three games late last season, new Seahawks offensive line coach Alex Gibbs has Spencer back at his natural center position during the team’s recent mini-camp.

Miller played inside linebacker at the University of Georgia, but was converted to defensive end by the Atlanta Falcons, who signed the 6-2, 252-pounder as an undrafted free agent in 2008. Miller totaled 5 tackles, including two for a loss, during the pre-season, but was waived at the end of training camp and re-signed to the team’s practice squad.
