Seattle Seahawks Add DE Tukuafu

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with undrafted free agent defensive end Will Tukuafu, his agent, Marc Lillibridge, announced on Twitter.

Terms were not disclosed.

Tukuafa, 26, originally committed to playing BYU before serving his two-year mormon mission. Tukuafu transferred to the University of Oregon from a junior college, and totaled 131 tackles, including 32.5 for a loss and 14.5 quarterback sacks over the last three seasons. Tukuafu also forced four fumbles, and recovered five others.

Tukuafu earned honorable mention All-Pac 10 honors in 2007 and 2008, before earning second-team All-Pac 10 honors after last season. The 6-3, 266-pound Tukuafu ran a 5.00-second time in the 40-yard dash, and posted 25 reps in the bench press, at his Pro Day in Eugene on March 18.

Given his size and pass-rushing ability, Tukuafu projects to the “Leo” defensive end position in Pete Carroll’s defense.

Tukuafu joins former Ducks teammates Max Unger, Nick Reed and Walter Thurmond in Seattle, and takes the roster spot of wide receiver Michael Jones, who was released last Friday.
