Carroll shoots down possibility of T.O. in Seattle

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll shot down the lingering rumor that his team is interested in Owens during an interview Monday with 710 ESPN in Seattle.

“He’s just not the right guy for us at this time,” Carroll said, per the station’s Web site. ”I like him and all that, but we’re going to continue to work with the guys we got and (go) in a different direction than that.”

I supposed it’s an out of sorts that Carroll said “at this time.” We’ve talked throughout the offseason that the market — at the very least the perceived market — for Owens hasn’t changed and that it likely will take a training-camp injury to create his next opportunity. As for the five teams interested in Owens, per agent Drew Rosenhaus, NFL.com senior analyst Michael Lombardi is still wondering where they are.

So are we. NFL Network insider Jason LaCanfora said on “NFL Total Access” that the personnel executives he has talked to are “a little skeptical” about the claims of interest in Owens. We do know the Chargers are out.
