Looks like Seattle Seahawks receiver Mike Williams was listening when offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates suggested the team needed even more from the former first-round draft choice.
Williams sealed the edge on a Justin Forsett running play to the left sideline, then caught a 51-yard touchdown pass from Charlie Whitehurst later in the drive as Seattle took a 10-7 lead over the Tennessee Titans in the second quarter Saturday night.
As impressive as the reception was for Williams, seeing him hustling to block had to carry significant weight with Bates and the Seattle staff. Williams has the talent. It’s the consistent effort and discipline that haven’t always been there. The effort is there so far Saturday night.
Consider this another step forward for Williams, who has enjoyed a strong camp and looks like one of the better receivers on the team.
