Leon Washington not only leads the NFL with a 31.4-yard average returning kickoffs, he has made at least one midseason All-Pro team.
In putting together his team for ESPN.com, John Clayton had this to say about the Seahawks’ return man: “He has had an amazing comeback from his broken leg and should go to the Pro Bowl.”
Watching Washington this season, it’s easy to forget that he suffered a severely broken leg last October while playing for the New York Jets. He already has returned two kickoffs for touchdowns – 101- and 99-yarders – as well as others for 57, 45, 42 and 41 yards.
Sunday, Washington and the Seahawks will face the player who leads the league in kickoff returns (38) and return yards (1,060) – the Cardinals’ LaRod Stevens-Howling, who also has two returns for scores this season.
