Seattle announced changes to the coaching staff. Tom Cable was hired as assistant head coach/offensive line. Cable was most recently the head coach for the Oakland Raiders. Art Valero served as Seattle’s offensive-line coach last season. There was no word on how Cable’s addition affects that job. Cable attended high school in Snohomish. He was the Raiders’ head coach beginning in 2009, but the team decided not to pick up his option despite the fact he led the team to its best record since 2002. Todd Wash was hired to coach the defensive line, taking the spot Dan Quinn filled for the past two seasons. Quinn left Seattle to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Florida. Wash comes to Seattle from Tampa Bay where he was hired as a quality control coach while Monte Kiffin was the Bucs’ defensive coordinator. Kiffin was a formative coaching influence on Pete Carroll, Seattle’s head coach.
