The Seahawks have signed defensive back Brandon Browner, tight end Dominique Byrd and defensive end A.J. Schable to future contracts, it was announced this morning.
Earlier this week, they also signed two wide receivers who finished the season on their practice squad to future contracts – Dominique Edison and Pat Williams.
Browner (6-3, 210) played the past four seasons with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL, where he was named to the league’s all-star team in 2008 and 2009. Browner played at Oregon State and signed with the Denver Broncos after not being selected in the 2005 NFL draft. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve after breaking an arm and was released before the start of training camp in 2006.
Byrd (6-3, 255) played for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll at USC and was a third-round draft choice by the St. Louis Rams in 2006. After playing two seasons with the Rams, he was out of the league in 2008 before signing with the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals released him in August.
Schable (6-4, 273) had stints with the Cardinals (2006), Philadelphia Eagles (2008) and New York Jets (2008) before playing for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL the past two seasons.
