RB Allen boosts stock at Georgia Tech’s pro day

With representatives from 15 teams, RB Anthony Allen helped his stock at Georgia Tech’s pro day on Wednesday.

Taken through a workout by Rams RB coach Sylvester Croom, Allen looked good catching the ball and should end up being a late-round pick.

QB Josh Nesbitt wanted a chance to show what he can do as a running back, but that didn’t happen because they needed him to throw passes. He’ll get another opportunity to prove his ability as a runner, but he’s a very good athlete. Historically, other guys have made the transition from quarterback to other positions. He might also get a look as a safety and will likely be a sixth- or seven-round pick.

The event took place indoors, on a fast surface. Here are some other notables:

Allen (6-1, 222) – He had 40-yard times of 4.59 and 4.65 seconds. He stood his other numbers from the combine.

CB Mario Butler (6 5/8, 184) – He posted a 4.56 and 4.59 40 to go with a 4.49 short shuttle. He also had a 33 1/2 vertical and 10-5 broad, while standing on his other combine numbers.

LB Anthony Egbuniwe (6-4 3/8, 256) – He put up times of 5.06 and 4.99 in the 40, a 4.53 short shuttle and 7.51 three-cone drill. He also had a 32 1/2 vertical, 10-foot broad jump and did 23 reps on the bench.

LB Brad Jefferson (6/1 7/8, 240) – He had a 4.75 and 4.74 40, a 4.49 short shuttle and 7.62 three-cone. He also posted a 33 1/2 vertical, 10-foot broad jump and did 27 reps on the bench.

Nesbitt (6 3/4, 212) – He had 40 times of 4.59 and 4.67, a 4.10 short shuttle and 7.24 three-cone. He also posted a 34 1/2 vertical, 10-broad jump and did 19 reps on the bench.

DB Jerrard Tarrant (6 1/2, 204) – He posted a 4.50 and 4.59 in the 40, a 4.37 short shuttle and stood on his other numbers from the combine.
