If you’re an NFL hopeful from Tulane, the idea has to be to follow in the footsteps of former RB Matt Forte.
That’s just what Green Wave OT Pete Hendrickson and WR Casey Robottom hoped to begin Friday, when the duo worked out on FieldTurf, outdoors, in front of three NFL teams at Tulane’s pro day.
You might recall that Forte was the 2008 Senior Bowl MVP, then went on to impress NFL scouts with his workouts on the way to being drafted in the second round (44th overall) by the Bears. As we’ve seen, the first three years of his career haven’t been too shabby.
What lies ahead for the current Tulane prospects remains to be seen, but here are their workout numbers:
Hendrickson (6-foot-7 3/8, 304 pounds) — He ran the 40-yard dash in 5.04 seconds with the wind and 5.14 against it, 4.62 in the short shuttle and 7.28 in the 3-cone drill. He also had a 32-inch vertical jump, a 9-4 broad jump and did 25 bench-press repetitions at 225 pounds.
Robottom (5-10, 181) — He ran a 4.76 40 with the wind and 4.79 against it, a4.37 in the short shuttle and 7.28 in the 3-cone drill. Robottom posted a 34 ½-inch vertical and a 9-7 broad jump. He did not bench press.
Note: Center Andrew Nierman recently underwent hip surgery and did not work out. He plans on doing so in April.
