Pete Carroll hits the road to share his message

Coach Pete Carroll sure is keeping busy during the offseason.

Besides the usual football meetings at Seahawks headquarters, Carroll has now embarked on a four-city coaches clinic tour over the next two months. It all kicked off with the first-ever “Win Forever Workshop,” a sold-out four-hour coaches clinic in Los Angeles on Friday night that unveiled Carroll’s principles and philosophies in a jam-packed interactive seminar attended by about 200 coaches of various levels and sports.

The tour next goes to Ft. Worth this weekend, Stanford next month and Seattle in June.

“Our goal is to coach the coaches and raise the awareness that positive experiences in sports are such a valuable part of kids’ lives,” Carroll said. “We’re hoping to elevate the coaches’ mindsets and methods so they can better serve the kids they coach.”

The coaches workshop attracted high school and college coaches, along with various business executives and community leaders, who hope to employ many of Carroll’s teaching and leadership techniques to their spheres of influence. With a wide range of speakers, the workshop featured “four quarters” of learning, going from self-discovery to “learn your learner” to the importance of practice to “perform in the absence of fear.”

In conjunction with last weekend’s coaches clinic in Los Angeles, Carroll and his team also hosted the “Win Forever Kids Camp” at LA Live, where 100 third- through sixth-graders took to an artificial turf field to go through drills under the guidance of Carroll and other coaches. Both events took place with the intention of advancing the “Win Forever” philosophy championed by Carroll over the last several years.
