The nine players the Seahawks selected in the April 28-30 NFL Draft came from nine colleges and universities, but only five states.

That’s because Alabama tackle James Carpenter (first round), Georgia wide receiver Kris Durham (fourth round) and Appalachian State safety Mark LeGree (fifth round) went to high school in Georgia; while Stanford cornerback Richard Sherman (fifth round) and USC linebacker Malcolm Smith are not only from California, but Southern California.
Wisconsin guard John Moffitt (third round) is from Connecticut, Mississippi State linebacker K.J. Wright (fourth round) is from Mississippi and LSU defensive lineman Pep Levingston (seventh) is from Louisiana.
If you’re into connecting the dots between players’ high school and colleges, check out this release from USA Football. The 254 players selected in the draft came from 243 high schools – led by three from Colton (Calif.) High School, with nine schools producing pairs of drafted players.
The high schools ranged from Damien Memorial in Honolulu (wide receiver Kealoha Pilares); to West Anchorage in Alaska (tight end Daniel Hardy); to Mt. Boucherie Secondary School in West Kelowna, British Columbia (guard Danny Watkins); to Colton (cornerbacks Jimmy Smith and Shareece Wright and running back Allen Bradford).
Four players from the state of Washington were drafted: Ferndale High and University of Washington quarterback Jack Locker (Titans); Archbishop Murphy High and Idaho defensive back Shiloh Keo (Texans); Bellevue High and Michigan tackle Stephen Schilling (Chargers); and Shelton High and Utah guard Caleb Schlauderaff (Packers).
