This move does not surprise me whatsoever, the Seahawks are not afraid to deal players and are determined to make the move to youth today versus tomorrow.
Babineaux has played all seven of his NFL seasons in Seattle, where he was coached last season by current Titans coordinator Jerry Gray. That relationship was one of the reasons Babineaux took less money to come to Tennessee, according to Babineaux’s agent.
The Seahawks and New York Jets had also expressed interest in Babineaux.
The 28 year-old Babineaux didn’t start any games for the Seahawks last season, but he played in all 16 contests, totaling 46 tackles, one-and-a-half sacks, two interceptions and eight passes defensed.
One year earlier, Babineaux started all 16 games for Seattle, producing 104 tackles and two interceptions.
The 6-0, 210-pound Babineaux has shown versatility as a defensive back, having played both safety and cornerback.
