In a nutshell: Seahawks 23, Chiefs 7, as the Seahawks sandwiched a pair of touchdowns around one by the Chiefs. The Seahawks struck first, on Russell Wilson’s 21-yard pass to Kellen Winslow. The Chiefs then drove 80 yards in 11 plays to Matt Cassel’s 9-yard TD pass to Dexter McCluster. Then Wilson drove the Seahawks 80 yards in the final two minutes to his 11-yard TD pass to Charly Martin. The Seahawks scored on each of their five possessions in the first half.
Player of the quarter: Wilson. The rookie continued to turn the impromptu plays, scrambling for 31 yards on third-and-7 on the drive to Hauschka’s third field goal and then running for 27 yards on the first play of the drive that ended with his TD pass to TE Kellen Winslow. Oh, and he threw two more TD passes – giving him five in less than six preseason quarters.
Play of the quarter: Wilson’s first TD pass, as he used a play-action fake before passing to a wide-open Winslow.
Number of the quarter: 7:43. That’s the time of possession on the Chiefs’ 17-play TD drive, which included five third-down conversions. This after they had the ball for 5½ minutes in the first quarter, and had run 14 plays on their first four possessions.
