Pete Carroll said Percy Harvin won’t practice today and was a little sore last week. He’s day-to-day, and there was no more timeline than that.
The news on LT Russell Okung and RT Breno Giacomini was better.
Okung could practice Friday. He can practice for two weeks before coming back. Again, the earliest he can return is the Nov. 17 against the Vikings.
Carroll said Giacomini is “getting really close” and that he thinks by next week Giacomini will be “pretty active, we’ll see what that means.”
It appears there’s a chance the Seahawks are two games from both returning.
On to the quick hits:
> Carroll said Sidney Rice’s injury affects the team because “he’s a guy we’ve gone to.” Mentioned that Jermaine Kearse and Golden Tate will have to step up as receivers, though, Carroll said, they try to get the ball to Tate as often as possible (he leads the team in targets).
> Carroll on the first half: “We’d like to keep the winning going, but we’d like to improve.”
> Carroll said the offensive line missed several assignments Monday night. He also said the defensive line fit things wrong and played certain runs wrong. Mistakes they haven’t been making much this season.
> Carroll also said Rice didn’t think he was hurt this severely at first. Then, the MRI delivered the bad news.
> Carroll said he thought about calling timeout as the clock was running down, but thought the increasing pressure was in their favor. At one point, during a Rams timeout, he said he tried to wave the team over to tell them how “fired up” he was for the opportunity they were getting on the goal line. Only problem, the team was too tired to drag it to the sidelines. Only Kam Chancellor and Michael Bennett made it over, so Carroll just told them, “get back in there.”
> Carroll said, “I love the way Darrell (Bevell) calls a game.” He went on to say he’s always in on the offensive plan, listens to everything on the headsets and has direct involvement in calling three or four offensive plays per game. Carroll said, “I try never to influence him in the middle of a sequence.”
> Carroll again said he, along with Marshawn Lynch, was frustrated Lynch had just eight carries. He’s not worried about any perceived “attitude” issues with Lynch. “I don’t mind one bit he’s frustrated,” Carroll said.
> On winning four of five on the road in first half: “I think that’s a big accomplishment,” Carroll said.
> On Ricardo Lockette: “He’s always been a high-potential guy.”
> On JR Sweezy, “We’ve committed to him.” Carroll said he’s not going to be changing the starting offensive line and didn’t consider removing him after his two penalties early Monday night.
> Carroll went out of his way to praise Bruce Irvin for his game Monday night. He also told a story about receiving a report from scouts following a pre-draft workout for Irvin where the scouts said Irvin would not be able to play linebacker. “I don’t know what happened, that workout must have been terrible,” Carroll said. He’s always thought that Irvin could be a good LB and cover well, saying he has a defensive back’s athleticism in a defensive end’s body.
> Carroll said Earl Thomas played a complete football game.
> He also said, “We put a tremendous amount of emphasis on finishing” as a defense.
> Michael Robinson said he felt good in his first game back. It was the first time he had full pads on in about two months. He said the mental side of things was easy.http://www.noticeorange.com/r/Seahawks12thManArmy to get an app for your phone.
