When the Seahawks play the Falcons in Atlanta on Sunday they’ll do it without the concussed duo of All-Pro center Max Unger and defensive end Red Bryant.
WORD OF THE DAY: CONCUSSED
That’s what All-Pro center Max Unger and defensive end Red Bryant are, and that’s why they won’t play in Sunday’s game against the Falcons in Atlanta.
“Those guys will not go. They’re not going to play,” coach Pete Carroll said after practice. “We’re going to take care of them this week and have them ready for next week, hopefully.”
Unger and Bryant got concussions in last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and neither was able to practice this week.
Lemuel Jeanpierre will step in for Unger, as he did in Weeks 4 and 5 when Unger was out with an arm injury.
“Whenever he’s played for us in the games he’s come through,” Carroll said. “So we really feel like he’s played already for us. We feel like he’s another of the starters going in there. So we’re pleased to get him this chance again and we expect him to play really well.”
With Bryant out, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said Michael Bennett and Tony McDaniel are prepared to play the five-technique end spot in the base defense.
