Thursday is Kam Chancellor’s 26th birthday, and the Seahawks’ All-Pro strong safety is asking you to celebrate by donating $26 to bring drinking water to people in Ethiopia.
Kam Chancellor will turn 26 on Thursday, but there’s no need to wonder what he wants for his birthday.
The Seahawks’ All-Pro strong safety is asking fans to make a donation of $26 to help bring clean, safe drinking water to people in Ethiopia. Chancellor’s goal is to raise $20,000. So far, 211 people have donated $11,951 – enough for one well, and well on the way to a second.
“I’m not usually excited about getting older, but this year I’m really thankful to have lived another happy, healthy year,” Chancellor writes on the website where donations are being accepted. “I recently learned that millions of kids around the world don’t live to see their fifth birthday because they don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water.”
Rather than say, “Oh, that’s too bad,” Chancellor decided to do something about it.
“We can help change that,” he writes. “I’m asking for my age in dollars from everyone I know.”
Many got into the spirit before Chancellor’s 26th birthday, but he’s hoping for a big push – with an assist from 12s – on his 26th birthday.
“Help me reach my goal,” he writes. “Please donate to my birthday campaign.”
And you can do that here, while we wish Kam Chancellor one happy, healthy 26th birthday as he puts others first on his special day.
