Richard Sherman really just doesn’t like Michael Crabtree, blasts him again

If there was any thought that Richard Sherman’s famous rip job of 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree after the NFC championship game was just a spur of the moment emotional rant, well, it wasn’t.

With months to think about it, calm down and collect his thoughts, Sherman made it clear that he really just doesn’t like Crabtree. The feud is personal, at least for him. And, one would assume after his myriad of comments about Crabtree that the feeling is mutual.

The Seahawks talkative cornerback’s latest comments came on Wednesday’s debut episode of “American Muscle” on the Discovery Channel, with the quotes from USA Today.

“It’s much more of just I don’t like the dude,” Sherman said on the show, according to USA Today. “You know what I’m saying. And I think he’s sorry. So it’s really what it comes down to.”

Just to clear this up, and leave no doubt about the point he wanted to get across, Sherman expanded his feelings on Crabtree.

“It’s not going to be something that goes away,” Sherman said. “I hope to play him every year for the rest of my career and choke him out. There’s not much else I can say about the subject. Nobody will understand it but him and me. That’s all that needs to understand.”

It’s going to be very interesting to keep an eye on those two during the head-to-head meetings next season. “Choke him out”? While he’s clearly not being literal, those are some challenging words. We’ll see if Crabtree responds to that, verbally or physically when the two are on the field together again.

There’s not a ton of true dislike between NFL players. Watch a game, you’ll find them all shaking hands on the field afterward. But Sherman is a player who seems to find motivation from these feuds. Ask LeGarrette Blount, DeAngelo Hall or Patrick Peterson, who have sparred with Sherman on Twitter this offseason. But there seems to be a little something extra for Crabtree. You might even call it an obsession. Not that the 49ers-Seahawks rivalry needed to get hotter, but there seems to be another layer to keep an eye on now.
