SEAHAWK FANTASY NEWS

News: The Seahawks have waived fill-in starting left tackle Kyle Williams.
Impact: Williams played two games after being promoted from the practice squad. The move announced Tuesday suggests that Damion McIntosh knows enough of the offense to start in Seattle’s next game on Nov. 1 at Dallas or that nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones will be ready to make his season debut then.

News: Leroy Hill practiced for the first time Tuesday since tearing his groin in Week 1, according to the Associated Press.
Impact: Hill is feeling great and is hopeful of returning to the gridiron in Week 8 following Seattle’s bye. He is a solid outside linebacker when healthy.

News: Marcus Trufant (back) will finally be activated off Seattle’s physically unable to perform list and begin to practice on Tuesday, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.
Impact: Coach Jim Mora was hesitant when asked if he would be able to play on Sunday, "We’ll push him as hard as we can. And I’m sure he’ll push himself more than we could ever push him. But he’s got himself back in the groove, hopefully it happens quick." In other words, don’t count on him playing this weekend.

News: Seahawks’ beat writer Danny O’Neil is reporting that linebacker Lofa Tatupu may not miss the remainder of the season as originally reported. Further tests on his pectoral muscles indicated that he they may not be fully detatched from the bone.
Impact: The team is still conducting tests, but Tatupu may be able to rehab instead of having surgery. We should know more in the coming days, but it looks like there is a chance the Hawks could have their MLB back this season.
Mon. Oct 19, 2009 |
News: After a further review on Tatupu’s torn chest muscle Monday, the Seahawks have decided that he may not miss the rest of the season after all, the Associated Press reports. “That might have been a little premature,” coach Jim Mora said. “We’ll keep our fingers crossed there.”
Impact: An MRI revealed only a partial tear, not the full one doctors announced Sunday. He’ll likely miss Seattle’s next game (at Dallas on Nov. 1), but could return in a couple of weeks if his rehab goes well. The team is expected to announce a timetable later this week after further testing.

News: After complaining abouthis number of catches, Houshmandzadeh matched a seasow low with four receptions and set another with 34 yards in a 27-3 loss to visiting Arizona on Sunday.
Impact: Houshmanzadeh is still on pace for 83 catches for 957 yards, totals that are in line with his previous five seasons in Cincinnati.
Mon. Oct 19, 2009 |
News: Hasselbeck completed just 10 of 29 throws for 112 yards in Sunday’s 27-3 loss to visiting Arizona. The 34 percent completion rate was his lowest since 2004, also in a loss to the Cardinals.
Impact: Hasselbeck, who had four touchdown passes in his return from broken ribs last week, could bounce back in the Seahawks’ next game as he’ll face a Dallas secondary that’s allowed an average of 264.4 yards in five games and eight touchdowns.
Mon. Oct 19, 2009 |
News: Jones was held to five yards on five carries in the Seahawks’ 27-3 loss to visiting Arizona on Sunday, his worst career performance as a starter.
Impact: Since running for 117 yards in the season opener against St. Louis, Jones has averaged 34.6 yards and failed to reach the end zone.
Mon. Oct 19, 2009 |
News: Houshmandzadeh totaled a season-low 34 yards on four receptions Sunday.
Impact: Houshmandzadeh was targeted eight times, but Seattle had a dreadful game offensively. It’s all the more disappointing considering the Seahawks were facing the league’s worst pass defense.
Mon. Oct 19, 2009 |
News: Burleson had a disappointing day Sunday, catching only two passes for 40 yards.
Impact: Seattle had a dreadful game offensively, and Burleson had a season-low five targets. It’s all the more disappointing considering the Seahawks were facing the league’s worst pass defense.
Mon. Oct 19, 2009 |
News: Jones rushed for a career-low five yards Sunday, as Seattle’s offense posted one of the worst days in franchise history.
Impact: The Seahawks held the ball for just barely 17 minutes, the second-worst showing in franchise history, and rushed for a franchise-low 14 yards. Seattle’s makeshift offensive line is doing Jones no favors, and he’s never been the most dynamic back. It’s not a good situation.
Mon. Oct 19, 2009 |
News: Carlson caught two passes for 55 yards on six targets Sunday.
Impact: Carlson was kept in to pass block a week ago. This time, the Seahawks used less max-protect blocking and paid for it with five sacks. Don’t be surprised if Carlson does more blocking than route-running in the future.
Mon. Oct 19, 2009
News: Hasselbeck posted a career-low 32.5 quarterback rating Sunday, completing only 10-of-29 passes for 112 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
Impact: Perhaps most disappointing about this game is it came against a Cardinals defense that was the worst in the league against the pass. Hasselbeck, though, is suffering from a makeshift offensive line that can’t protect him (five sacks) and can’t run block (franchise-low 14 rush yards).
